Goodbye!
Hello again everyone. This is my last blog post. Writing blog posts have improved so many abilities of me. First of all, my imagination has improved so much. Also, I felt relieved while writing about my opinions and thoughts. My Current Issues in ELT course was very fun to attend. I tried to do my best while preparing materials for this course. Also, this course improved my creativity. To be honest, some of the assignments were hard. But I think it was better this way because we have to confront much more difficult tasks in the future. My favourite task was preparing flipped teaching videos. We prepared this task both visually and auditory and it was fun to do. I also liked preparing AR/VR teaching material. Introducing Rome to the students was entertaining. My advice to the students who will take this course next year is that they must be creative and open-minded to the innovations. I, personally feel that my creativity has improved and I have learned a lot of sources to prepare teaching materials. Thank you all for joining me in my adventure! And I am grateful to Gökçe Hoca for offering us so many opportunities. I hope I can manage to improve myself continously.
Al- integrated teaching material
Hello. Today I am gonna talk about the al-integrated teaching material that we created four our Current Issues in ELT class. The material that we created was about how to learn vocabulary. We made our material through the site called “Canva” and we also used the site called “Quizlet”. First of all, we retrieved a reading passage from the MEB coursebook of 10th grades. After the reading passage, we added a link of a vocabulary exercise in quizlet. We asked students to enter the link and explore how they can use the site. The reading passage and the vocabularies were about “Global Issues”. After that, me and my partner retrieved another reading passage from the MEB coursebook. This time, we asked students to create their own exercises by adding their own vocabularies that they learned from the passage. In the next page we asked some questions to students to get feedback from them. Lastly, we asked a suggestion for the new users of quizlet. The material was so much fun to do. I will attach it below. Thank you all for reading.

Preparing AR/VR Integrated Teaching Materials
Hello everyone. Today I am going to talk about the AR/VR integrated teaching material that we made. Firstly, I will give brief information about AR/VR in classroom. According to the information that we learned in our Current Issues in ELT class, augmented reality is a technology that allows video, picture and 3D models and animations to be visualizedin a 3D environment based on elements of the real world. There arre so many ways to access AR: QR codes trigger images, markerless AR apps, GPS location. While Augmented Reality enhances the real world, Virtual Reality offers us an escape from it. Me and my pair worked on exploring a city abroad task and made a guide to Rome, Italy. In the first page of our guide, we introduced two landmarks of the city. We used pictures and 3D videos of them. And we prepared questions for each landmarks. In section 2, we introduced a museum of the city Rome. We add pictures and 360 video of it. Then we prepared two questions for students to answer after exploring the museum through virtual tour. In section 3, we introduced the emperor of the Rome, Constantine. We added the pictures of him and a 3D photograph. Finally, in the last section, we prepared a project for students to complete. We asked them to make their own digital posters. We introduced the steps they will go through. We added some examples of the postcards. And lastly, explained how to write a postcard. I will attach the handout that we made. I hope you like it. Thank you all for reading my post. See you!!

My Flipped Teaching Video Experience
Hello! Today, I’m going to talk about the flipped teaching video that I made for my Current Issues in ELT class. First of all, what is flipped teaching video? For those that do not know what it is, flipped classroom approach is a pedagogical approach that reverses the role
of the activities in and out of the classroom, as Hsieh says. It is based on active learning,student-centered approach, practice in meaningful context,social-interaction,personalized learning,reflection,real-world applications. Me and my pair, Selin, created a video according to these features of flipped classroom approach. We made the video via website called “Animaker”. Our teacher wanted us to choose one of the options and we chose the vocabulary video. We chose the topic ‘Hobbies’ from MEB English coursebook for grade 5 students. The words we used to teach grade 5 students in our video were:
-ride a horse -ride a bike -go swimming -go fishing -play chess -play dodgeball -do roller skating -do origami
We created the video then, we added our voices to the video. We vocalized the words that we chose then we asked students to repeat those words with us. At the end of the video we collected all the words in one page and made students revise them. I will put the link of the video below. The video was fun to do. I had so much fun doing it. Thank you all for reading my blog post. See you soon!

Creating a corpus-based teaching material
Hello everyone! In my post, I will talk about my assignment based on creating a corpus-based teaching material for EFL learners in high school in Turkey. For those who do not know what the corpus is, we can simply define corpus as written data. First of all, we chose the ‘would or used to’ topic with my pair and we prepared our material according to that topic. In the first part of our material, we created a group matching activity. We aimed ss to acknowledge the different usages of ‘would and used to’. After doing this part, our students will be able to gain knowle of the different usages of would and used to. In the second part, there is an activity which enables students to study on collocations. After doing this part, our students will be able to learn the collocations of would and used to. In the third part, students are asked to find the differences between used to and would. This part also includes teachers explaining the right answers and briefly summarizing the differences. In the last part, there are two practices in which the students reinforce their knowledge. Here is the link of our corpus material. Hope you enjoy it!!
My Digital Storytelling Adventure
Hi guys. I hope you are all well. Today I am going to talk about the digital storytelling assignment that I made. First, I did this project for my Educational Technologies class. In this project, I made a ‘How to make’ video with my friend, Selin. We thought about so many ideas and honestly, that tired us. Because we had so many choices and we couldn’t decide which one we should use. Eventually, we thought making an envelope from paper could be good. I recorded a video in which I am doing an envelope, then Selin recorded her voice for it. We added some background music and our video turned out to be what we exactly wanted. For its usage in the classroom, I can say that Digital Storytelling has so many advantages. I would use this in my classroom in the future because it has so many educational stuff and visuals. It helps students in listening and speaking. That is why, I believe digital storytelling will be more popular around teachers and will be shown in classes more often. But there are some challenges while creating a digital storytelling. For example, it takes so much time to do it. I think, with practice, it will be easier for both teachers and students to create their own digital storytelling. I will attach our video. You can watch it.
Thank you all for reading my post. Take care!!
Creating a digital poster
Hello everyone!! Today, I created a digital poster for my Educational Technologies class! Our teacher gave us two options to choose. One of them is creating a movie poster, and the other one is creating a magazine cover. I chose creating a magazine cover and designed my own fashion magazine cover. I used the site called “Canva” for designing my poster. I used Jennie Kim, who is a famous Korean singer, as the face of my cover. I chose her because she is really into fashion and she is the face of famous fashion brands, such as Chanel, and Calvin Klein. I put 5 different titles to my cover about fashion. I’ve always read and collected magazines since my childhood. So, it was fun doing one of them. I also follow fashion trends. I would use creating posters in my class with my future students because it is fun to do, and in addition to entertainment, it can be used for education. I would also want them to do posters themselves because it improves the creativity. Lastly, if you want to check my poster, link is here.

My Podcast Adventure
Hello! Today, I made a podcast for the first time in my life. I recorded my voice for the Educational Technologies class. I used to record my voice a lot when I was a kid. But, with time, this habit of mine has vanished. So, after so many years I recorded my voice while I’m talking, except for the WhatsApp voice messages. I really enjoyed recording my voice. I selected the topic ’improving the world’. I had only 60 seconds to record, so that was a little bit challenging. I talked about how the mindsets effects the improving of word. I talked about the duty of parents when it comes to the personality shaping. I tried to explain everything briefly because of the time restriction. After I finished recording, I decided to record my own voice more often because it is nice to keep these speeches and listen to them later. It was fun. You can listen my podcast from here. Thank you for reading my blog. See you!!!
My Padlet Adventure.
Hello all! Today I made a padlet activity for my Educational Technologies class. We created a wall on Padlet with my group, including Asude, Sude, and Selin. I really liked doing it. We chose the topic ‘air pollution’. We wrote what we know, what to know and what we learned parts about this topic. We talked about the causes, solutions about air pollution. Thank you all for reading.
See you!!
21st Century Learning
Hello!
The topic I want to write about is 21st Century Learning. Of course, the first thing that comes up to mind when talking about 21st Century Learning is technology. With the development of technology, educational resources and materials have improved significantly. Therefore, the opportunities for learners have also increased. Although, the development of technology was beneficial to learning, it required some competences. For example, digital immigrants, who were not born in the age of technology, should try to keep up with digital natives. Therefore, both teachers and learners must be open to innovations and come to the stage where they can easily adapt to changes. In language teaching,21st century innovations played a crucial role. Now we can easily hear about what is happening on other countries, no matter how far that countries are. I think with this rapid communication and interaction, people’s perspective on different countries and cultures has changed and that led to critical changes in the way people acquire languages. Now it is easy to learn and practice a language by speaking with a native speaker. All of these opportunities enable 21st century learners and teachers to learn and teach far too much easily.
